Rough Guides
Rough Guides
Guides is a British company, and therein lies its major strength as far as Europe goes. It has a home field advantage over other guidebooks, as continental Europe is only a ferry ride away. They publish individual guides to most European countries, as well as a 32-country Europe guide. Most books are updated every two years, some every three - though the comprehensive Europe guide is an annual publication. I really can’t say much more about Rough Guides that you would believe; as I said, they publish this book.
If you are looking fora one-book guide to Europe, you should compare the Rough Guide to the Let’s Go, and Lonely Planet. In my mind Let’s Go is handicapped by the fact that nearly everyone has one. But consider the guides yourself, and then choose whichever you think will be best for you.
