Frommer’s
Frommer’s
Frommer’s is the granddaddy of budget travel guides; Arthur Frommer pretty much invented low-cost travel in Europe for non-Europeans with his revolutionary Europe on Five Dollars a Day. The current version is entitled Frommer’s Europe, from USD 70 a Day, which is a statement in itself on what has happened to budget travel over the years. This guide, however, only covers 31 major cities and the areas around them and, like the rest of the series, has been somewhat overtaken among budget travelers by other, younger series. The information is not particularly budget-oriented, and the presentation is poor. Basically, there are better guides, especially for travelers on a tight budget, but for those with a short itinerary and a little more money, Frommer’s may be worth a look.
