International driver’s license
International driver’s license
You can drive in most countries in Europe on your home country’s driver’s license. However, in some countries you need an international drivers license, so if you think you might be driving while in Europe, one of these is worth obtaining. For North Americans, they’re available from the AAA for ten bucks; you’ll need a passport-sized photo and your (valid) driver’s license. The process takes all of about ten minutes, and your license will be good for a year. Aussies should try their state RAC, while South Africans and Kiwis should call their local AA. Brits should be fine with their domestic UK license.
