Airlines’ maximum carry-on size varies, despite what some authors claim. Typically, length plus width plus height must be less than 45 inches, with some airlines allowing 55 inches. Weights allowed vary from a pathetic thirteen pounds on British Airways to a back-straining forty pounds on American. Call your airline for details. It used to be that you were rarely challenged on your carry-on baggage unless it was suitcase size: however, be warned that all airlines have been cracking down on carry-on baggage regulations lately. If you must take all that luggage with you, try putting it in two small carry-on bags - most airlines won’t make a federal case of it. No matter what, after you’ve decided on two or three airlines, call and check on their policy.
