Going Home
- Don’t forget to confirm your flight back home, just as when you left. Remember, you must call to confirm within 72 hours of departure.
- Get to the airport at least two hours before takeoff, and be prepared to wait. Security and other procedures at most European airports always seem to take longer than expected. An extra twenty minutes’, leeway can save you a bundie of stress.
Remember, if you’re connecting between two flights on your way home, you can’t simply go to the gate for your second flight at your stopover airport, even if you have tickets in hand. Remember to check in at the “further clearance” or “further travel” desk. If you are flying Virgin Atlantic out of London Heathrow be aware that (due to strong tensions between British Airways and Virgin) the Virgin Atlantic gates are a LONG way from security checkpoints - I’ve walked out there a couple of times and was afraid I was going to fall off the edge of the world.
