7. Graffiti. Obviously, living in countries with free health care, free education, and governments that throw away money like sailors on a drinking binge isn’t enough for some young punks in Europe - they feel the need to express themselves with spray paint, often on buildings that have stood unblemished for hundreds of years. I’ve noticed that graffiti has exploded all over Europe in the last five years; it’s everywhere, but is less common in the poorer countries than in the wealthier welfare states of northern Europe.
8. La Sagrada Familia. This may be the ugliest building known to man. It’s still under construction, and one can only tremble at the thought of how ugly it will be when completed. They should stop now and spend the money on tearing the place down and replacing it with something more attractive, like, say, a pig farm, a sewage plant, or a junk yard. There seems to be an “Emperor’s New Clothes” dynamic going on in Barcelona; this cathedral is so famous and such a tourist draw that nobody is willing to state the obvious - the damn thing is as ugly as a toilet plunger, and, when compared to other cathedrals, looks like something made by a drunk grade-school student with modeling clay.
