Don’t be put off

Please don’t let this section frighten you into not going t0 Europe, or into being overly fearful when you do. The four pncipal “Amazing True Crime” experiences I just related are the only incidents I personally suffered in multiple trips all over the world totaling somewhere around fifty or sixty months of travel. These trips included a great deal of wandering alone late at night through Naples, Moscow, Cairo, Rome, and other big cities, and never once did I feel unsafe or threatened. Admittedly, I am male, tall, and fairly ugly, but the fact remains that millions of tourists travel in Europe every year without any problems whatsoever. Just be reasonably cautious, don’t make obvious mistakes that present easy opportunities for theft or invite harassment, and you will be fine.

Even more so than this, 99 percent of you won’t have to worry about any of the drug-related and sex industry problems. Those of you that do will have to decide whether the possible benefits are worth the risks involved. Before you head-butt that bouncer, steal that pub sign, or sally forth in search of your drug of choice, remember that you are a long way from home.
